Pasha Setrova 〰️
PashaPasha New York was founded in 2017 and Pasha is the leading artist behind the vision. Every creation is directed and touched by Pasha who imbues her design aesthetic in every piece. Pasha is the mad engineer behind it all. She started modeling at the tender age of 15 in her native Russia, and so as an artist working on an articulated human figure, wanted her dolls to move like she could—arching the neck, pushing the ball of the shoulder forward, curving the torso in on itself. She is the inventor of the ball joint doll (bjd) world’s first complex shoulder joint that she is constantly, obsessively improving upon. Setrova’s influences come from modern day fashion, textiles, pop culture, her own nomadic childhood history in the tundras of Siberia to her past work as a unsatisfied model in Europe, to her personal battles with schizophrenia.
She likes true crime documentaries, her cats, and bread.
Shannon
The couturier. Shannon helps Pasha tackle the most intricate of projects - sewing small scale functioning apparel, shoes, and accessories - one button at a time. She likes drawing, little figurine collectables, and baking.
LEAH
The doll technician - Leah lends a hand on all the individual dolls whether it’s painting, sueding, spraying, or stringing. She likes collecting furbies, going to raves until dawn, and she works on her own line of transfeminine art dolls - ETHEREALGIRL BJD.
GAUKHAR
The detail specialist. Gaukar has an eye for all things tiny. If we need a nail painted, she’s on it. If we need the tiniest of buttons sewn, she’s got it. She likes k-pop and Nirvana but sushi not so much.
BON BON
Team manager. Studio lazy boy. He likes drinking from his special teacup, watching cat tv on the iPad, and taking deep whiffs of whatever you’re eating.
Spoon
Team mascot. All chaos. All the time. She likes q-tips, overseeing from high shelves, and waking Bons when he’s trying to nap on the job.
